  • Overview

In this segment, Dr. Plowe describes the current state of malarial control on a global level. By his account, physicians and the general public do have good tools for control including effective treatments, bed nets, intermittent preventive treatments, indoor residual spraying (e.g. DDT), and good progress on vaccines. The challenge, however, is to make proper use of what is available, which is a sentiment amplified a thousand-fold when exploring the state of endemic regions of the world.
